We are getting a lot of rain in Virginia on top of some left over snow from the last storm. Most of the river levels have come up quickly and colored up a lot. Through the weekend and maybe even into next week your options will be pretty limited. Focus on tail waters and possibly some of the higher mountain streams (just be careful the roads aren't blown out).
Next week is calling for a little warmer weather. As the water starts to go down try swinging some streamers. Tandem black wooly buggers are great option with dirty water that still won't be that warm. Otherwise midges are still the ticket. Black and red size 20 zebra midges have been fishing great in both the freestone and spring creeks. Make sure you are fishing them right on the bottom.
Spring is right around the corner. The trout fishing is going to be a blast and the smallmouth will be getting active too. Get a guided trip scheduled!
